“I didn’t get there by wishing for it or hoping for it, but by working for it.” -Estée Lauder
Alright, Hi everyone!
I am Wahyu and I am the first batch of teaching practicum in Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE) together with my 6 other friends. I am so grateful for the chance given to me to be able to practice my teaching in overseas. Moreover, I have learned a lot of things such as new knowledge about English, teaching strategies and classroom management. What I like from this program was that the internship provided me and my friends with convenient facilities, sincere help, and precious experiences during the program. I must adapt myself to teach university students and how to deal with their learning style which is so different from the students in Indonesia especially Bali. Besides, this was a surprising news for me to teach university students especially those who were not taking English as their major and most of them were Engineers. I was teaching 2 classes for General English and one English for Specific Purposes (ESP) for ICT class. To be honest, teaching General English might be the same like usual but teaching ESP had challenged me a lot. I had to learn about terms in ICT, design appropriate lesson and handouts for the students’ level and transfer the knowledge to the students. Those were not easy, yet I was trying my best. I was kind of nervous to teach university students but day by day that was just OK and my students showed their interest in learning to me. I was a respected student teacher and I loved teaching them.
Not only teaching, but also observing teachers and student teachers. Yeah, this was my favorite part. I was doing observation and in the same time I was a student as well because I was involved in the learning and I got so much new knowledge by sitting at the back. observing, and writing down every activities conducted in the classrooms. It was beneficial for me in terms of dealing with students’ attitudes, likes, and interest to English. Lucky me, the students did not hate me but they wanted me to teach them again and again.
I was feeling comfortable during the program due to team teaching that I had. They were so kind and helpful. I asked them questions and suggestions for my teaching a lot and they were so open to help me and now I am missing them so much. I thank my super humble supervisor as well, Ms. Ly for the time she spent on my lesson plan consultation and teaching that I had conducted. She was so patient and she guided me to always have a back up plan as a teacher. That challenged me and I was be able to pass these all because of her supervisions. Last important thing is my thank to Undiksha and HCMUTE for allowing and facilitating me to join this great program. I have a lot of stories and experiences now. Thank you so much.

I put all of my teaching activities and experiences in detail on the links below on my blog. So, kindly please check them out and leave any comments or feedback for my blog. Thank you, everyone.
