Sawaddee Krab, hello everyone. I am one of the students in UNDIKSHA who had join the overseas teaching practicum program in Prince Of Songkhla University, Surat Thani, Thailand. I never know that I will be able to get this chance to go abroad and get a new experience here. It was a pleasure to get this chance.
In this teaching practice I teach two matrium following my mentor, that is M2 for Track and Fields and M5 for Basketball. When I was teaching students, they were always showing me their interests, but sometime there’s obstacles in communications because some of them can’t understand English but it can be resolve because I show demonstration too for them so they can understand and do it well.
Doing teaching practice for one month here in Thailand is the best experience ever that I can get, besides doing teaching practice, I also learned about their culture, get new friends, and taste Thailand’s food. Therefore, this is my report for doing teaching practice at PSU Wittayanusorn Surat Thani School.

For the source of learning, teacher use book about the branch of sports that they teach in this semester and from internet too as the sources.
2.3 Authentic Assessment:
The teacher evaluates the students by giving tests where it is held in every meeting. There are also midterm test conducted in the middle semester and final test conducted at the end of the semester. For the score sheets, the students can get can get maximum points by do the test well according the procedure. if their score less than 6, they must retake the test and do it better than before.
- Teaching Plan:
3.1 Curriculum:
The curriculum used by PSU Wittayanusorn Surat Thani School is a semester program where it is already designed and adjusted to Thailand’s school system rule. In making my lesson plan, my mentor give me his lesson plan and I make my version of the lesson plan.
3.2 Lesson Plan:
The teacher also prepared a lesson plan for teaching in the classroom as a reference. There are some differences in the lesson plan in Thailand and Indonesia. In Thailand, the lesson plan was simpler and more detail than lesson plan in Indonesia. However, the structures were generally the same, consists of preface, core activity, closing.
- Teaching Practice:
4.1 Teaching procedures in the classroom:
The teaching procedures is similar to teaching procedures in Indonesia. There are three core parts in teaching procedures where both Thailand and Indonesia use it. Namely opening, core activity, and closure. The following procedures as follows:
1. Opening:
For the opening part, I do the greeting and did the present list to know who is absent in the classroom.
2. Core activity:
In the core activity, I divided into two parts. In first period I explain the material and give demonstration first. after the students understand, I let them to practice and in second period I take skill test.
3. Closure:
Before ending the class, I re-checked if there was a student who had minimum score in the material and give motivation for students so they are better in next material. After that I told them what material that would be discussed in the next meeting.
4.2 Time Management and Activites For Each Meeting:
In PSU Wittayanusorn Surat Thani School for Physical Education, students got 1 meeting in a week (2 hours of meeting), for 1 period was 50 minutes. Based on what I have mentioned before, before starting for the for the practice, I would explain the theory a little bit and do demonstration from the material.
4.3 Problem Solving:
There are some problems that I met when I did teaching practise at PSU Wittayanusorn School, one of them was: not all of students could speak English. But it’s not a big problem, because if they don’t understand, I’ll do the demonstration to make it easier
5. Summary and Suggestions:
5.1 Purpose of the teaching practice:
The purpose for teaching practice is for giving a teaching experience for future teachers, and by joining teaching practice overseas in hope to prepare a professional and competent teacher. Therefore, the future teacher will be able to face any obstacles during the teaching process. Here are the other purposes of teaching practice as follows:
1. Applying the teaching skill in real situations.
2. To make the future teacher be able to master the teaching skill.
3. Develop their social and personal skill in school environment.
4. Develop their learning abilities in English.
5. Know the school environment conditions of the school abroad.
6. Get experience to teach students in school abroad
7. Understand the academic and non-academic process in overseas school.
5.2 Outcomes of the Practice:
Having international experience in developing teacher competencies, beside that you having the competence to compete in the era of Globalization and Industrial 4.0 and becoming UNDIKSHA ambassador in education and culture field abroad.
5.3 Challenges of the Practice:
The main challenge in this teaching practice was language itself. Not all of the students, teachers, and other people understand English. This obstacle challenged me as a teacher to be able to guide students, make them understand the materials. Moreover, cultural differences pushed me to be a good role model for the students.
5.4 Overall Impression:
The teaching practice abroad is an interesting program and challenging at the same time. For me, by joining this program I can get new experience in teaching and add it to my mind as new knowledge. Also, I can know the education system in another country.
5.5 Suggestion for Future Improvement:
For the next candidate of teaching practice abroad please make yourself well because it is not easy like what you thought because of different culture and mindset. Beside that, you will learn the education system here in which different from your own country. Also, you need to be able to adjust your food here because the taste of some food is different from your own country. Next, you need to be able to socialize with people; partners, teachers, staff in the school, students, and society. For the last is a team working is very useful here.
