Hello, Kumusta, Om Swastiastu I’m Putu Riska Sariani. They also call me Ika and I’m participant of U to U Practice Teaching from Ganesha University Of Education (Undiksha), Singaraja , Bali, Indonesia. First I want to thank to all parts of Ganesha University of Education for giving me chance to join in this program. I am so grateful that I can join this program.
I was so excited, but nervous because it was such a new experience for me. I haven’t gone anywhere without my parents by my side. Yet, there I was, standing in another country where people speak their local language, and without me knowing what they say. I only rely on using my English, speaking using language that we don’t use every day, and that is a challenge that I give to myself, to be able to survive with all these new habits. This blog is about my whole journey, activities and experiences when I was a student while doing teaching practice at Tarlac Agricultural University, Philippines for one month.
I am very grateful to be able to follow this program, I learned many things from this experience such as meeting new people, knowing different cultures, different habits, unique food, and many other things.

2.1. Teaching Method
Mostly, the teaching method applied in TAU-Lab School is student centered where the teacher act as the facilitator and encourage the students to be active. However, there are also some of the teaching method that used both student centered and/or teacher centered learning. It depends on the teacher, the subject and the material.
2.2. Source of Learning
Both JHS and SHSfor learning resources not only through books, but ICT materials can also be seen on the internet and YouTube. ICT does not only learn about theory but is more practical and therefore ICT material can be accessed more through the internet. In the Laboratory they can use the computer for searcing the materal for ict but in the class rom they are allowed to bring their smart phone. It makes the teacher easier to ask them to browse the learning material in the internet.
2.3. Authentic Assessment
The scoring system is taken from After teacher submited 1 of the material the teacher gives practice exercises to be done by the students. Later, this score will help the students in the final score accumulation in case if they have such a low score in middle or final examinations.

3.1. Curriculum
The TAU – Laboratory High School follows the K-12 Curriculum implemented by the government. The implementation of the K-12 plan in the Philippine Basic Education Curriculum is the key to our nation’s development. Though the government faces many problems as it implements the program over the course of several years, it is a necessary improvement since increasing the quality of their education is critical to their nation’s success.
The most different things we can find from the last curriculum with the K-12 curriculum is, the additional grade for Senior High School for 2 years school.
In TAU – Laboratory School, Junior High School divided from Grade 7 – 10 and they have three section each grade. First section is Science A, second is Science B and the last section is Agricultural and Homemaking (AgHm). For Senior High School in TAU – Laboratory High School, they divided into Grade 11 and Grade 12.
3.2. Lesson Plan
The lesson plan used in TAU-Laboratory School is way simpler than I get used to make in Indonesia. While in Indonesia, the lesson plan may consist of more than 10 pages, in the Philippines, it only consists of 2-4 pages. Simply, it consists of learning objectives, learning material, and learning strategies which are described using less word yet compact.

- Teaching Practice
4.1. Teaching procedures in the classroom
The teaching procedure in TAU-Laboratory School is similar to teaching procedure in Indonesia. There are three core parts in teaching procedures. These three core parts are implemented while I am teaching in the classroom. The following procedures are as follows:
- Opening
I came to the class and greet the students. After the greeting, After that, I asking some questions to the students for recall the material in the previous meeting.
- Core Activity
Core activity is where the material should be conveyed completely but still considering the classroom situation to be fun. The application of game in teaching in learning process is one way to keep the classroom atmosphere fun. This fun activity will encourage the students to be actively participating in the class. The game itself is not only intended for the fun activity, but also to convey the material by discussing it together along the game.
- Closure
At the end of the class, it is really important to ask the students to conclude the material which has been learned. After that I did the present list to know who is absent in the classroom.
