A warm greeting from Vietnam to me as an Indonesian student who conducted a teaching practicum in Ho Chi Minh University of Technology and Education from September 2nd – 30th 2019.
“Study abroad is not a dream, it is a plan”, a quote that I’ve got from the internet then I stuck it in my Instagram’s biography for about more than a year. I put it in my biography because of my strange addiction to go abroad has been what I am dreaming of. Think that it is really cool if someone travels abroad to study rather than travel for spending a holiday. Yeah, I am cool right now, hahaha. It felt like one of my dreams come true, I wasn’t going to study but to teach.
Vietnam, where the journey was begun. I am Made Cendika Dwi Kumaratungga, English Language Education Student at the Ganesha University of Education and worship my queen, Billie Ellish as my girlfriend (you can search in google who is Billie Ellish in case you wonder about her). I was one of the lucky students that passed the election test of this Overseas Teaching Program. Teaching practicum is an obligatory lesson for last year’s students that is needed to be fulfilled before graduating. That was really a great chance for me to improve my teaching skills in another country with the high language barrier and different cultures of the country. But those problems never brought me to step back, I confidently stepped up and saw the beauty of education in another country, Vietnam.
In Ho Chi Minh University of Technology and Education, I taught university students, well first I thought that I would teach senior or junior high students. Being a teacher for overseas students was not as easy as I thought. There were lots of challenges to deal with but those were really fun and improved my teaching skills. Besides, I also know about Vietnamese culture and food. Well, I got lots of experiences in this overseas teaching program.
Also, I have some links about the report of my journey in conducting this teaching program in HCMUTE and don’t forget to like, share and comment. Thank You 🙂
